What happens when creativity meets community?

As part of our Remembrance Day activities, nearly 700 knitted and crocheted poppies now brighten Paradise – each one made by local hands, each one telling a story.

Working with our occupiers and @arts_therapies_uk, people across Birmingham and the Black Country came together to craft, connect and care, demonstrating how small creative acts can make a big difference to mental wellbeing.

We’re proud to be hosting our first Female Empowerment Day today as part of our Future Skills Unlocked programme.

Co-designed with occupiers across Paradise who are passionate about inspiring the next generation, today’s event is all about empowering young women to explore careers in sectors such as professional services, engineering and hospitality.

With support from @aheadpartnership and teams at @arupgroup, @inside_atkinsrealis, @dainsacc, @dlapiper, @f1arcade, Federated Hermes, @goldmansachs, @millsreeve and @quiltercheviot, we’re welcoming students from four partner schools across Birmingham for a day of insight, learning and inspiration.

It’s fantastic to see so many brilliant women – and future leaders – coming together to share their experiences and ambitions.

This year, we wanted to do something a little different to mark Remembrance Day.

Together with our occupiers, local communities and @arts_therapies_uk, we’ve created a brand-new display of almost 700 beautiful handmade poppies at the end of the Centenary Way walkway – each one knitted or crocheted by people across Birmingham and the Black Country.

It’s a colourful, heartfelt tribute celebrating creativity, connection and remembrance. If you’re passing through Paradise this week, we hope you will take a moment to stop, look and reflect.
